Azente's Wellness Objectives

Azente's Company Background

Azente Wellness was founded by business professionals who are concerned about the current state of health and healthcare in America.

Healthcare is becoming one of the fastest growing areas of the economy. This is good news for the healthcare industry. But what does it mean for us as individuals? Are most of our savings going to go for costly drugs to treat our children's obesity and mental disorders? Are our retirement dollars going to be spent on the leisure activities we have dreamt about for a lifetime, or are they going to be eaten up by hospital bills, prescription drugs and retirement homes?

Corporate employers provide more than 60 percent of the health coverage for people under 65. What does the booming healthcare industry mean for the average company trying turn a profit in a competitive global economy?

At Azente Wellness, we have been following trends in health, healthcare, insurance and employee benefits trends for a number of years. While many of us believe that America has the best healthcare system in the world, there seems to be a growing disconnect between this belief and what we are actually experiencing. The media is replete with stories about the startling rise in obesity, seniors who cannot afford their medications, the growing number of uninsured, not to mention the angst that many of us feel about our healthcare.

Our research has brought us to the conclusion that many of today's health problems are related to the way in which we lead our daily lives--the choices that we make about food, physical activity, our attitudes toward our lives, our level of stress. Similarly, a large portion of healthcare dollars are being spent for the treatment of these conditions.

In response to spiraling healthcare costs and the relationship between these costs and our lifestyles, we feel that the only solution that really makes sense is to teach people how to get involved in their own health and how to take better care of themselves. A simple, common sense approach to health and wellness will not only help us get a handle on healthcare costs, but also leads us to longer, healthier, more productive lives. Surveys show that people are ready to change behaviors as a means to control healthcare costs and utilization. It's just a matter of giving them access to the information, making it affordable and easy to integrate into their everyday lives.

Our BaseLine Wellness series has been developed with these considerations in mind.
